Turning Lemons into Lavender Lemonade
Recently, Shane from The Gay Agenda in Albuquerque, New Mexico, told us that our events were banned from their calendar. They said it was because of a misunderstanding at one of our book clubs and something that happened at the Dyke Dance — even though the Dyke Dance isn’t one of our events at all. It happened at the Social Club, not with us.
And then Shane even called me a TERF, which was hurtful and untrue. Anyone who knows our community knows we show up with inclusion, and open hearts. But sometimes people misunderstand you, and that’s okay — because we stay centered in who we really are.
Instead of letting that stop us, we chose something better.

Just good vibes, clear info, and events that help you connect, grow, laugh, dance, learn, and live your best life — together.
Because when one door closes, we build our own doorway, paint it lavender, and hang a disco ball above it.

If you’re hosting something for Sapphic – a craft circle, a hike, a dinner, a meetup, a book club, a workshop, an art show, anything — we want to promote it and help spread the word.
We are absolutely keeping the Albuquerque Queer Women’s Meetup community. That sisterhood is strong, loving, and full of magic — and we’re not going anywhere.
We want our space to stay easy to join, easy to love, and easy to share — without anyone being priced out.
Events will continue.
Community will continue.
Friendship will continue.
