An ERA100 Party is a special celebration to mark the 100th birthday of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The ERA is a law that would make sure that everyone in the United States is treated equally, no matter if they are a man or a woman. It’s like having rules that say everyone should be treated fairly and have the same rights.
For a long time, people have been working hard to make sure the ERA becomes a part of the Constitution. But it took a really long time for the ERA to get all the approval it needed. Then a group called EQUAL MEANS EQUAL came along and helped to bring attention to the ERA and get more people to support it.
Thanks to EQUAL MEANS EQUAL and many other people who fought for equal rights, the ERA was finally approved in some states like Nevada, Illinois, and Virginia. This means it has met all the requirements to become the 28th Amendment to the Constitution.
To celebrate this milestone and show support for equal rights, EQUAL MEANS EQUAL is inviting people like you to host birthday parties for the ERA, just like we celebrate our own birthdays. These parties are a way to have fun and also learn about the importance of treating everyone equally. By celebrating the ERA’s birthday, we can help spread the word and make sure that equal rights are protected for everyone in our country.
But you might be wondering, how can a party change anything? Well, the truth is that sometimes our government doesn’t always do what it’s supposed to do. The Equal Rights Amendment is being held back because the government is not following the law.
EQUAL MEANS EQUAL, the group organizing the parties, believes that if a lot of people show that they care about the ERA, it can make our government listen. When many voices come together and demand change, it can create a big impact. The President of the United States has a responsibility to make sure that all laws are followed, including publishing new amendments like the ERA. By celebrating the ERA’s birthday and making our voices heard, we can put pressure on the government to do the right thing.
So, the #ERA100 Parties are a way for us to come together, celebrate, and also show our government that we want equal rights for everyone. It’s a way to make sure that the laws that protect us are respected and followed by those in charge.
#ERA100 parties are education-forward, family-friendly, non-partisan events. With cake. These
parties are meant to:
- Honor and share the one hundred years of work by those who have come before us;
- Ensure that we, in the present, have the knowledge and the tools to finish the job they started;
- Secure a better future not just for women, but for men, and everyone in between.
What does an #ERA100 party look like? We hope you will join us at ours on August 26th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the
