A devastating new survey from The Trevor Project highlights the harsh truth: queer youth in the U.S. are in crisis — and our community needs to rise and respond.

🧠 Mental Health & Suicide Risk

  • 39% of LGBTQ+ youth seriously considered suicide in the past year.

  • This number spikes to 46% for transgender and nonbinary youth.

  • 12% attempted suicide — with even higher rates among youth of color.

Political Harm

  • 90% say politics have negatively impacted their well-being.

  • 46% felt discriminated against due to sexual orientation.

  • 49% of LGBTQ+ teens experienced bullying.

  • 23% were physically threatened or harmed in the past year.

Affirming LGBTQ+ Spaces Save Lives. Youths with access to affirming spaces had lower suicide rates than those without.

Know the warning signs of suicide: withdrawal, hopelessness, sudden mood shifts, giving away belongings. Trust your gut and check in.
