No Kings, Just Kindness: How a Peaceful Protest United the Country

No Kings Protest on October 18th, 2025: Queer Voices in the Streets

The initiative was led by Indivisible along with a coalition of pro-democracy organizations.  Protests had safety leads who created and implemented safety plans to keep all events peaceful, non-violent, and to de-escalate if any scenarios arose.  And all protests were peaceful, with absolutely no incidents of trouble or violence reported anywhere.  Portland was responsible for starting the frog costumes, and this idea took off! The whole country’s protests featured whimsical costumes of all types, featuring numerous frogs, dinosaurs, donkeys, chickens, Trump images, and sundry and other characters.

No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.
On October 18, more than 7 million of us rose up at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states, DC, and cities worldwide to say: America has no kings!
