A Sapphic Comedy: Drive-Away Dolls Tuesday 5:20 pm Cinemark Century Rio Plex 24

Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 5:00 PM

Directed by Ethan Coen, and co-written with his wife Tricia Cooke, the crime comedy throws back to Russ Meyer and John Waters B-movies as well as 1960s psychedelia, yet with contemporary sensibilities courtesy of two extremely charming leads. Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan co-star as lesbian pals on a noir-spattered road trip that takes a bit to kick into gear but, man, totally grooves when it does.

Trailer here!

Is calling a Queer Woman a Lesbian a good idea?   Be careful how you answer this!  The answers can be very controversial!  Not saying there is some overlap, but Queer Women and Lesbians seem to be worlds apart these days.

Generally, the Lesbians label is used by older women in more traditional, monogamous relationships. Younger women identify with the Queer because it isn’t just women who love women.
